   Jan 14,  · Recently saw one man show "Gershwin Alone" which prompted me to augment my home music collection. This was the ideal collection to fill that need. "Essential" is a good title since it includes many of the Gershwin classics, some performed by George Gershwin himself and others by the artists that made the classical renditions of so many /5(92).

   Absolutely sublime collection of George Gershwin covers. Some of the tracks may not be the best versions of the old songs and instrumentals that you will ever hear (Larry Adler's somewhat eccentric rendition of "Rhapsody In Blue" for instance lacks the seering emotional punch I'm used to with this piece, but I daresay it will grow on me)/5(81).
