West, Bruce, and Laing's debut, Why Dontcha, is very good but compared to the bands they were in previously, Cream and Mountain respectively, where it lacks is the songs. "The Doctor" is the only track that is on par with Cream and Mountain and the band's riveting performance, particularly Jack Bruce's bass work, is really sick/5().

Why Dontcha is the first studio album by power trio West, Bruce and Laing.. The album features "The Doctor", which received heavy FM radio airplay upon the album's release and became a signature song in live performance for the band.

referencing Why Dontcha, LP, Album, , S A huge variety here, including driving rock and accomplished blues, with both great guitar and harmonica. It has to be one of the worst album covers ever, but don't let that put you off.
  7. Zulugal says:
Why Dontcha is the first of two albums released in the early '70s by the "supergroup" power trio composed of guitarist Leslie West and drummer Corky Laing (Mountain), who team with bassist/keyboardist Jack Bruce (Cream), for highly electrifying and straightforward Blues Rock with a touch of Soul and Heavy Psych. On its debut album, each musician takes a turn at singing lead.
